Simone Fanciullacci

Italian, b. 1982

A Milanese designer, Fanciullacci considers his practice to be artistic research into the relationship between form and space. This enquiry seeks to understand the relationship between the volumes that give life to a form, the rhythm that characterizes them, and the sense of balance or disequilibrium they evoke. His sculptural works emerge from an exploratory process of hands-on experimentation across sculpture, collage, drawing, and technical innovation. Through this aesthetic and poetic investigation, Fanciullacci finds freedom in working across different languages and materials, eventually giving life to his singular works and objects

Fanciullacci produces his works in close collaboration with some of Italy’s finest craftsmen. Through longstanding relationships with local artisans, he is able to explore a range of ancient and innovative techniques, alongside the possibilities of materials such as bronze, aluminum, marble, stone, and solid wood. Each work is fully customizable and crafted with the intention of lasting for generations, making the act of collecting a sustainable cultural statement

After receiving a degree in Product Design from the Politecnico di Milano, Fanciullacci launched his eponymous atelier in 2017. His work has been featured in leading design publications and has received numerous acknowledgments, including the iF Design Award, the Good Design Award, and an honorable mention for the XXII Compasso d’Oro Award. Since 2011, he has served on the design faculty at the Politecnico di Milano
